Inspired by Slavic mythology, The Mavka is a dark folk horror short film and the first production from Trident Productions and writer director Jack Laurenson. A grieving father becomes consumed by a seductive and vengeful water spirit, drawing him ever deeper into a world of grief, desire and supernatural darkness, while another presence makes one final attempt to save him before he is lost forever.
